"It's hard not to be inspired by the energy of change that comes with the promise of a New Year. This year, rather then create resolutions I know I won't keep I thought I would work on changing some mindsets in order to sustain new goals and behaviours long term. And then I thought, why not share them!
Many of the affirmations are created as a type of pledge and therefore use "I will". Feel free to adapt them to the positive energy of "I am" to make them powerful, in the moment affirmations. I hope you are inspired to create some new shifts in your own thinking this year. I will reflect on my accomplishments, big and small to use as evidence of success for my next step forward. I will love and nurture my body, because I recognize I am so much more than a number on a scale. I am the vessel of my potential. I will say "I love you" everyday to at least 1 person. To my partner, my children, my best friends, and just as importantly, myself. I will let go of comparing myself to others and recognize the good I do in my own life and feel grateful for the opportunities that do present themselves. It's very possible I am living someone else's big dream. I will embrace my scars. Emotional scars, stretch marks, childhood accidents and life shattering moments. The day I got them, they became mine and I choose to wear them with pride. I will set aside unrealistic ideas of how my day should look, and choose instead "presence". Presence of the moment, or conversely what the moment presents. The to do list can wait! Life is calling. I humbly recognize I am uniquely gifted and part of fulfilling my purpose is to embrace and share those gifts. I will honour my feelings as they come and go, knowing that pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice I make when I attach to the story of pain. I will use words of love and encouragement towards myself. If I don't expect it from myself how can I expect it from another? I will stop using the words "should", "but" and "one day". None of these serve my highest self. Instead I will use "choose", "and" and "today". ( I double dog dare you to try this one. Game changer!) I will stop believing the lies I have told myself, or accepted from another about my worth. The fact I exist is an extraordinary feat of cosmic events. I will say "yes" more often to experiences that bring me joy, and "no" more often to things not aligned with my honest thoughts and feelings. I will embrace this gift of time and use it wisely to create positive change where I can, how I can, when I can. I will remember life happens for me, not to me. What I think and feel creates my experiences. I will be curious about what happens next without fear or judgement. I am the creator and keeper of my happiness. I will challenge my limiting beliefs and dwell within possibility and freedom. And I will reread these pledges of affirmation to remind myself of the spark of potential I experienced when creating them, when I thought about the way I wish to walk in the world. A little lighter, more purposeful, more accepting, more committed, and vibrating in the contagious energy of new beginnings. May you be blessed with an incredible year ahead. Peace & Plenty, Tina |
