We have all heard this before, but at this time in global history it's time we actually listen. We are whole body systems, which means when one area of health is compromised, overall health is compromised. It's important to strike a balance between tending to our minds, bodies and spirits.
Healthy Mind: Thinking good thoughts is certainly easier said than done, primarily because the brain having those negative or limiting thoughts is also the same brain that you need to have different thoughts so you can change your thoughts...exhausting! It's important to shine a light on how a thought is actually created. Typically there is a stimulus that your beautiful brain tries to make meaning of. It quickly goes through a databank of past stimuli searching for a match. If it's familiar it hits autopilot and you react how you normally would, feeling the same sensations, thinking the same thoughts, getting the same results. Now if the stimulus is not familiar, your beautiful brain say's "close enough" and lumps the experience into a similar pattern. It is impossible to rapidly and unconsciously take in every shred and nuance of new information, every second of everyday, so we don't. And with time and repetition those patterns of "close enough" form our neural pathways (patterns of thought) which..., you guessed it, forms our thoughts, feelings and reactions. So if you have ever asked yourself, "why do I keep doing that?", now you know:) Here's the fun part, you can change those neural pathways to be more aligned with choiceful thought rather than unconscious knee jerk reactions. Mind management is a powerful tool of awareness that usually looks a bit like this trajection. "O shit, I did it again!, O shit, I'm actually doing it right now (and will continue happily:), then O shit, I am about to do it. And that becomes the sweet spot because you know have a millisecond of opportunity to respond ( to manage with responsibly). I'm over simplifying here, that's why thought work is best done with a professional and as you develop that self awareness piece, you then can challenge your thoughts and replace them with more positive, concsious and helpful |
